American goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina has officially signed a contract with the Premier League club, according to a statement.
With his six-year deal, the Blues have brought in Chicago Fire midfielder 18-year-old Alexis Sanchez. He will join the team in 2023 after completing his loan spell with the Fire.
At the age of 14, Slonina joined Chicago as the club’s youngest-ever signing after agreeing to a professional contract with the team. He is also the youngest goalie in MLS history to start a game at the age of 17 years and 81 days, making his debut with the Fire in August 2021.
