Souness: Let Bale make it clear to Tottenham fans that he’s not happy

Tottenham Hotspur ignored all the evidence when signing Gareth Bale on loan, believing he would form part of a frightening front three with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, yet with the Welshman having hardly made an impact since returning, Graeme Souness believes the player has to make it clear to Spurs fans that he’s not happy to just sit on the bench.

Jose Mourinho is not known for his man-management skills with regards to the modern player, and he too is having trouble getting a tune out of a player who, in truth, looked like his legs had gone in the last couple of years with Los Blancos.

Bale has started just six matches for the north London club this term, although one of them came in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Brighton.

He offered zero shots in the 61 minutes he was on the pitch before being substituted by a visibly disappointed Mourinho.

“He’s a world-class player who returns to the club that he says that he loves, yet it’s as if he’s happy to sit on the bench,” Souness explained to Sky Sports.

“If he is not happy with that situation, and that is what he was accused of at Real Madrid too, then he needs to express that.

“Make it clear to the Spurs fans that he isn’t happy and that he isn’t getting enough minutes on the pitch.”
